Sports and Recreation
The United Methodist Sports and Recreation Committee (often part of a church’s broader outreach or Witness Ministries) exists to blend physical fitness with faith and community building. It functions to:
Build Community:
Organizes leagues, tournaments, and social events (e.g., volleyball, softball, walking clubs) for all ages to foster fellowship and connection.
Outreach & Evangelism:
Uses recreational activities as an accessible, non-threatening space to welcome the wider local community and share the gospel.
Promote Wellness:
Encourages physical health, mental well-being, and active lifestyles among congregation and community members.
Youth Development:
Provides safe, positive environments for children to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and Christian character.
Facility Stewardship:
Manages, schedules, and maintains church sports facilities and equipment.
