Communications
The United Methodist Communications function to connect congregations, share inspiring stories of faith, and spread the Gospel. They operate as a digital, print, and broadcasting ministry to support outreach, evangelism, and church growth globally and in local communities. It is charged with the task of meeting the communication, public relations, and marketing needs of the entire Church.
Core functions include:
Digital Ministry & Media:
Overseeing websites, producing multimedia content, managing social media platforms, and broadcasting live worship services to engage both members and online seekers.
Public Relations & Branding:
Implementing marketing strategies and public relations campaigns (such as the #CTJT initiative) to increase the Construction visibility.
Training & Equipping:
Training communicators , and volunteers in effective communication, digital media production, and storytelling.
Internal Communication:
Keeping the congregation informed and connected about church events, missions, volunteer needs, and denominational news.
Global Networking:
Supporting worldwide broadcast networks, such as radio stations and internet initiatives, to facilitate discipleship and humanitarian relief across continents.
History and Archives
(Often working alongside communications and digital media teams) are tasked with preserving the denomination’s heritage and sharing its “ministry of memory”
Their core functions include:
Record Preservation:
Collecting and securely storing historically significant records of the church.
Digital Integration:
Transitioning historical preservation into the modern era through digital uploads, cloud-based records management, and oral history applications like paCalvary Magazine
Communication & Education:
Collaborating with communications teams to build brand awareness, promote historical awareness through podcasts, websites, and social media, and encourage local congregations to write and share their own histories.
Research Assistance:
Providing a premier destination for researchers, genealogists, and church historians looking to study Methodist teachings and influential figures
Resource Management:
Maintaining and cataloging libraries, museums, and official depositories for the conference.
