Health
The United Methodist Church’s Health Committee (often referred to as the Health and Welfare Ministry) promotes holistic, accessible healthcare and community well-being. It bridges the gap between the church and the community to address the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the congregation.
Key functions of the committee include:
Preventive Care & Screenings:
Hosting regular health fairs, blood pressure checks, and wellness education programs.
Community Health Initiatives:
Identifying local human needs, such as aging support, disability assistance, and community nutrition.
Spiritual & Emotional Support:
Providing pastoral care, coordinating support groups, and ministering to caregivers.
Resource Advocacy:
Educating congregation members on available health services and liaising with community health organizations.
Infrastructure & Disease Prevention:
Managing church-affiliated clinics, supporting maternal and child health programs, and fighting diseases like malaria and HIV/AIDS
