What is Charge Conference?
The charge conference is the basic governing body of each United Methodist local church and is composed of all members of the Administrative Council. The charge conference must meet at least once per year. The charge conference gives general oversight to the church council, reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, sets salaries for the pastor and staff, elects the members of the church council, and recommends candidates for ordained ministry.
What is Church Conference?
Is a committee of the whole congregation which meets as-needed to conduct church business that requires consensus or majority approval.
What is the Administrative Council?
Aside from the congregation as a whole, this is council of church leadership that proposes, discusses, plans and approves the direction of the church. The Administrative Council functions as a subset of the entire congregation, handling administrative and planning decisions that do not require congregational vote. Meets quarterly and as-needed.
What is the Board of Trustees?
Board of Trustees are charged with the upkeep and maintenance of our buildings and grounds and are the only body within the church authorized to enter into legally binding contracts on our congregation's behalf,
What is the Finance Committee?
Provides planning, budgeting and oversight of the church's' finances. Meets monthly and as-needed.
Whats is SPPRC?
Staff Pastor-Parish Relations Committee is the personnel management committee of the church. This committee makes decisions regarding the hiring and evaluation of the church's paid staff, and interfaces with our district superintendent and the conference episcopal office regarding our pastoral staff. Meets monthly and as-needed.
Who are the Fun & Fellowship?
This committee does the fun stuff - planning the events where we get together as a congregation just for the fun of it. Chili cookoffs, picnics, Rake & Run & More and other fun events come from the Fun & Fellowship folks. Meets quarterly or as-needed.
Who is Worship Committee?
This committee of members works with our pastors to design worship experiences that are engaging and relevant, and organizes stewards for Holy Communion. Additionally, there are worship design teams specifically for our Transformation and FUSION worship experiences. Meets monthly.
What is Nominations Committee?
This committee works to link our members to the committees where they can be of assistance. Each one of us has a unique set of skills and abilities that allow us to serve the church in a productive way - this is the committee that recognizes our personal strengths and makes suggestions for service. Meets a number of times in the spring of each year.
Administration
The church office frequently needs extra hands for busy-work preparing worship bulletins, newsletters, nametags, mailings, displays, and even could use help answering the phone from time to time. Office work is usually easy, relaxed and social ... but necessary!
